Why is 22/7 considered Rational?

--

if π = 22/7 then,
why π is considered irrational and 22/7 rational?

Rational Number

A number that can be written in the form of p/q where q ≠ 0.

  • Terminating Decimals — 2.45,2.789,11.764 etc.
  • Non-Terminating and Recurring Decimals — 2.45555……, 23.2343434……

Irrational Number

All Non-Terminating and Non-Recurring Decimals are considered irrational numbers.

  • √All nonperfect squares — √2, √3, √5, √7, etc
  • 3√All nonperfect cubes— 3√2, 3√3, 3√4, 3√5, etc

Now,

According to the above explanations, 22/7 is [non-terminating and recurring] which is the approximate value of π(pi) not the Exact Value.

that is why 22/7 is considered rational.
and the Exact value of π(pi) irrational.

Real Numbers are a part of the NUMBER SYSTEM.
